SICKO MODE

Fine album from a good band. Nothing offensive, nothing transcendent. It sits comfortably in the middle of their discography and that's okay. Not everything needs to be a masterpiece to be worth your time.

Nobody

Occasionally overindulgent but the quality is undeniable.

The first half of this album is some of the best music I've ever heard. The second half is merely great. That slight drop-off is the only thing keeping this from a perfect score. Still an essential listen.

What sets this apart from other great albums is the consistency. There's no filler, no dips in quality, just track after track of brilliance. The emotional arc from start to finish is perfectly constructed. An easy 5.

Alright

I keep going back and forth on this one. Some days I think it's underrated, other days I think the consensus is about right. The production is genuinely interesting — there are textures and sonic choices here that I haven't heard elsewhere. But the songwriting underneath all that ornamentation is sometimes pretty thin. It's one of those albums that's more fun to think about and discuss than it is to actually listen to, if that makes sense. The concept is great, the execution is uneven. I respect it more than I enjoy it, but I do respect it quite a bit.

Alright

Enjoyable but not groundbreaking. Good for what it is.

Come Together

I've listened to this front to back more times than I can count and it never loses its magic. The production is meticulous without ever feeling sterile, and every track contributes something essential to the whole. One of those albums that genuinely changed my taste in music.

Come Together

I've introduced maybe a dozen friends to this album and every single one of them has become a fan. That kind of universal appeal combined with genuine artistic depth is incredibly rare. This is the real deal.

Come Together

Middle of the road for this artist. Not bad by any means but not essential.

Criminal

Perfect from front to back. Not a single moment wasted.

Criminal

Decent album with a handful of really excellent tracks. The problem is the material between those peaks isn't compelling enough to hold your attention. Worth cherry-picking the highlights for a playlist.

Worth a listen but doesn't demand repeat plays.

Shake It Off

The arrangements here are stunning. You can tell real care went into every detail.

Shake It Off

Started strong but lost me in the back half. The opening three tracks had me excited and then it just sort of coasts on autopilot. Would have been a much stronger EP than it is an album.

Video Games

I appreciate the artistic risk-taking even if the result is a bit of a mess. There are kernels of good ideas scattered throughout but nothing is developed enough to really land. Frustrating because you can hear the potential.

Cherry-Coloured Funk

The emotional depth here is staggering. I was completely floored the first time.

B.O.B.

I tried multiple times but can't connect with this at all.

Just Like Heaven

There's not a wasted second on this record. Even the interludes and transitions feel purposeful. I've seen people debate which track is the best and the fact that there's no consensus tells you everything about how consistently excellent it is.
