Travelling Without Moving

A landmark release that deserves every bit of praise it gets.

Doo Wop (That Thing)

I put off listening to this for years because the hype felt overwhelming. How could anything live up to that kind of consensus? But when I finally sat down with good headphones and gave it my full attention, I understood immediately. This isn't an album you casually appreciate — it demands and rewards your complete focus. What strikes me most is the emotional range. It moves from devastating vulnerability to towering confidence, from intimate whispers to massive sonic landscapes, and it all feels organic. The transitions never feel jarring even when they probably should. That's a level of craft that very few artists achieve even once in their career.

Doo Wop (That Thing)

Not quite their best work but honestly that's a high bar. This is still a fantastic album by any reasonable standard. The songwriting is sharp, the sound is distinctive, and it's got great replay value.

One More Time

I don't think music gets better than this.

Call Me Maybe

I wanted this to be better than it is. The ingredients are all there — the talent, the ambition, the production budget — but it never quite gels into something greater than the sum of its parts. Still a pleasant enough listen though.

Call Me Maybe

Changed the way I think about music. Nothing else sounds like this.

Call Me Maybe

Not sure what happened here. Their previous work was so strong and this feels like a significant step backward. The songwriting is lazy, the production is overwrought, and the whole thing feels phoned in. A couple of decent tracks don't save it.

Sweet Child O' Mine

The kind of album where you sit in silence after it ends.

Some interesting ideas that don't always come together.

Ultimate

A solid album with some standout tracks, but a bit uneven overall.

I genuinely don't understand the hype. This was a slog to get through.

The ideas are there but the execution falls flat too often.

Nothing Else Matters

A few good tracks don't save a mostly underwhelming album.

Close Your Eyes (And Count to Fuck)

Close Your Eyes (And Count to Fuck)

Really impressive debut that announced a major new talent. There are a few rough edges that betray inexperience, but the raw ability and creative vision are undeniable. Can't wait to hear what comes next.

Nights

I've given this the benefit of the doubt across multiple listens over multiple years and my opinion hasn't budged. Overrated, overlong, and overwrought. The good moments are too few and far between to justify the runtime.

Rapp Snitch Knishes

A mature, confident album that knows exactly what it wants to be. No wasted tracks, no unnecessary detours. It doesn't reinvent the wheel but it polishes it to a brilliant shine. Thoroughly enjoyable.

A few tracks could have been cut without losing anything, but what's here is largely excellent. The production is gorgeous and the performances are top-notch. One of the better albums I've heard recently.
