Not sure what happened here. Their previous work was so strong and this feels like a significant step backward. The songwriting is lazy, the production is overwrought, and the whole thing feels phoned in. A couple of decent tracks don't save it.

A once-in-a-generation artistic achievement.

Took a few listens to click but now I can't stop playing it.

I played this for my partner who doesn't even like this genre and they were blown away. That's the sign of a truly great album — it transcends taste. The hooks are undeniable, the depth is real, and the replay value is infinite.

I've given this the benefit of the doubt across multiple listens over multiple years and my opinion hasn't budged. Overrated, overlong, and overwrought. The good moments are too few and far between to justify the runtime.

There's not a wasted second on this record. Even the interludes and transitions feel purposeful. I've seen people debate which track is the best and the fact that there's no consensus tells you everything about how consistently excellent it is.

Bold artistic choices that mostly work. Rewarding for patient listeners.

The kind of album that makes you want to pick up an instrument.

I've listened to this front to back more times than I can count and it never loses its magic. The production is meticulous without ever feeling sterile, and every track contributes something essential to the whole. One of those albums that genuinely changed my taste in music.
