Kind of Blue

I don't think music gets better than this.

Timeless. I've listened hundreds of times and it never gets old.

I wanted this to be better than it is. The ingredients are all there — the talent, the ambition, the production budget — but it never quite gels into something greater than the sum of its parts. Still a pleasant enough listen though.

The production is interesting but the songs themselves are lacking.

Good album that suffers a bit from inconsistency. The highs are worth it though.

What sets this apart from other great albums is the consistency. There's no filler, no dips in quality, just track after track of brilliance. The emotional arc from start to finish is perfectly constructed. An easy 5.

The definition of a classic. Will be listened to for centuries.

I've given this the benefit of the doubt across multiple listens over multiple years and my opinion hasn't budged. Overrated, overlong, and overwrought. The good moments are too few and far between to justify the runtime.

Took me three listens to fully appreciate what was happening here but once it clicked, it really clicked. The layering is incredible — you hear new things every time. A rich, rewarding album that demands your attention.

A solid album with some standout tracks, but a bit uneven overall.
